Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, grinders, and related equipment
- Set up and operate boring mill equipment for line boring and related machining work
- Operate plasma cutting table, including developing drawings in CAD for cutting and fabrication requirements
- Manufacture, modify, and repair shafts, bushings, pins, sleeves, rollers, keyways, threads, and other industrial components
- Machine parts from drawings, sketches, samples, damaged components, and field measurements
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and tolerances
- Perform precision measuring and inspection using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related tools
- Determine appropriate tooling, machining sequences, speeds, feeds, and work-holding methods
- Assess worn or damaged components and determine appropriate methods for repair or reproduction
- Support equipment rebuilds, breakdown repairs,
and urgent customer work
- Work closely with Millwrights, Welders/Fabricators, and Supervisors
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, dimensional, and customer requirements are met
- Maintain equipment, tooling, and an organized, clean, and safe work area
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an industrial or general Machinist
- Strong experience with manual lathes and milling machines
- Strong custom machining, repair, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and tolerances
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and indicators
- Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and similar materials
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to determine machining and repair methods with minimal supervision
- AutoCAD experience considered an asset
- CNC machining experience considered an asset
- Welding, fabrication, or industrial maintenance experience considered an asset
- Machinist Certificate of Qualification / Red Seal considered an asset; equivalent practical experience will also be considered
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability and willingness to work after hours and weekends as operational or customer needs require
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety
