Position Summary The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machining equipment to produce quality parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. The successful candidate will have robust attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools and workholding.
- Set tool offsets and make necessary machine adjustments.
- Load and unload materials and inspect finished components.
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and make adjustments as required.
- Make minor program edits and offsets when required.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Machine Operator.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with CNC mill and/or lathe setup and operation.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining practices.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience with CNC programming is an asset.
- Completion of a Machining or CNC-related apprenticeship/program is an asset.
