This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life‑changing technology to patients!As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be expected to have a wide breadth of knowledge of all production processes and act as the first point of contact for any feedback or problems raised by the manufacturing team. In this role, you will also be responsible for optimizing workflow of production processes in order to maximize process throughput and yield. Having developed a keen knowledge of production processes, you will be well positioned to identify areas for process and product enhancement. You are expected to triage, design and implement process enhancement projects as well as collaborate with the design engineering team to provide DFM input and develop solutions.Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.Meaningful Work You Will Be a Part OfYour Responsibilities Will Be to:Define, develop the business case and implement equipment and process improvements for current and next‑generation productsPlan capacity,
equipment and infrastructure needs as part of implementing new production lines and scale‑up activitiesPlan manufacturing floor layouts for current and future product designs to maximize efficiencyManage equipment design, fabrication and/or upgrades, qualification and implementation for production and training center equipmentLead or participate in design and manufacturing process workflow reviewsReview manufacturing process cycle‑time trends and process workflows and develop strategies to remove capacity bottlenecksCollaborate with design and quality engineering to determine root cause of ongoing quality issues and drive implementation of appropriate solutionsIdentify and communicate workstation utility requirements to facility teamDevelop and drive implementation of WIP and finished‑good product storage solutionsProvide input into product designs as part of the design for manufacturability processServe as a process subject‑matter expert (SME) and assist with identification and delivery of technician training requirementsProvide front‑line support to the manufacturing team for process and equipment related issuesLead or participate in Lean and Kaizen events and drive continuous improvement projectsWhat You Bring to the TeamOur Kardium team is smart, creative, and passionate about developing cutting‑edge medical devices to help improve people’s lives. We understand that only by working together can we solve what was thought unsolvable.You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:1-5 years experience in design or manufacturing engineering in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or medical devices industryExperience with value stream mapping, design for manufacture, and change control managementExperience with, and solid understanding of, statistical process controls, lean manufacturing,
kaizen/six‑sigma implementation is preferredDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and timelinessExperience in developing manufacturing floorplan layouts based on activity relationship analysis is desirableCompensationKardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs.
