Job Summary: This position requires an individual with a strong background in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), spatial analysis, and cartography. This highly technical role provides essential support to all staff in the GIS team and the company as a whole. The GIS Specialist primarily supports the production of geospatial deliverables for indigenous communities and their companies; associated with use and occupancy studies, natural resource, and archaeological projects.

Key Responsibilities:

· Create high-quality aesthetic maps and visualizations that effectively communicate spatial information to diverse audiences.

· Ensure that all mapping activities adhere to company standards and the specific needs of clients.

· Develop and refine GIS methodologies and processes tailored to the specific needs and priorities of the project and clients.

· Continuously improve mapping techniques and designs to meet the evolving needs and expectations of clients and stakeholders.

· Stay current with advancements in GIS technology and methodologies, particularly those related to Indigenous mapping.

· Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of spatial data.

· Perform spatial analysis to support land use planning, natural resource management, and environmental assessments.

· Utilize various GIS software tools and programming languages (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Python, R)



to analyze and visualize spatial data.

· Lead projects following existing company mapping standards and methodologies to ensure consistency.

· Creating project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure timely project delivery while monitoring project progress and addressing any issues that arise through the project lifecycle.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns or inquiries.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, fostering trust and mutual understanding.

· Delegate tasks to team members when capacity is available, ensuring efficient use of resources and expertise.

· Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

· At least four (4) years of experience working in GIS and Mapping consulting

· Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in GIS, Mapping, or Geomatics

· Knowledge of, and respect for, First Nations history, culture, and socio-economic contexts; keen interest in working for an Indigenous business seen as essential

· Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or business is an asset

· Proficiency in ESRI Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software applications

· Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills





· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment

· Highly organized self-starter with attention to detail

· Adaptive to tight deadlines, changing priorities, and team requests

· Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle - optional

Working Conditions:

Physical

· Extended screen time and computer-based work during office tasks

· Occasional lifting and movement of office or project files and supplies

Psychological

· Energetic, deadline-driven office environment with multiple simultaneous projects

· Sustained focus on detailed project tracking and documentation

· Must manage interruptions while maintaining high attention to detail

· Variable workload intensity, including periods of high demand

Travel: Limited travel may be required for meetings or training

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime as required

Expected Start Date: As soon as possible; willing to wait for the right candidate

Compensation: $33.00 - $40.60 per hour, Extended Health & Dental Benefits and Pension.
