The Role Reporting to the Grading Foreman, the Gradesperson is responsible for setting, verifying, and maintaining grades on site. You’ll play a key role in ensuring grading work is accurate and efficient while supporting the crew and providing direction in the Foreman’s absence.

This is a hands-on, field-based role. Experience operating equipment is considered an asset, and training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Set, check, and maintain grades using GPS, lasers, string line, levels, and boning rods
- Read and understand grade stakes
- Utilize Topcon GPS equipment (experience considered an asset)
- Direct truck drivers to proper unloading locations
- Signal equipment operators on grade requirements
- Assist with general grading and earthworks as required
- Support and guide crew members when needed




- Follow company policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Comply with North Star’s Health & Safety Program and OH&S; regulations

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in grading or earthworks
- Knowledge of both conventional and modern road-building methods
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a quick-paced field environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and pride in quality work
- Experience with Topcon GPS considered an asset
- Experience operating construction equipment considered an asset

Required Certifications

- CSTS 2020
- Ground Disturbance

Conditions of Employment

- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to work long hours and weekends as required
- CSA-approved safety boots

Pay: Up to $36.00 per hour
