PKC is seeking a compassionate, dependable, organized, and knowledgeable Group Home Operator to join our residential team. The Group Home Operator plays an important role in the day-to-day operation of an assigned group home and in ensuring residents receive consistent, person-centred support.

Position Summary The Group Home Operator is responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day operation of an assigned PKC group home. The position provides direct support to residents while also providing day-to-day coaching, guidance, and support to employees working within the home.

The Group Home Operator will help ensure that resident needs are being met, household responsibilities are completed, documentation is maintained, PKC policies and procedures are followed, and concerns are communicated promptly to management.

Key Responsibilities:

Resident Support

- Promote and support the dignity, independence, choice, rights, and personal goals of each resident.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care as required.
- Encourage participation in community activities, recreation, appointments, employment, education, and other meaningful activities.
- Support residents in developing and maintaining life skills and greater independence.
- Follow individual support plans and established routines.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in a resident's physical, emotional, or behavioural well-being.
- Promote meaningful choice and participation in decisions affecting residents.
- Advocate for residents while respecting their individual preferences and rights.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with residents.

Health, Safety & Medication

- Help ensure the group home provides a safe, clean, comfortable, and supportive environment.
- Follow all PKC health and safety policies and procedures.
- Administer and/or support medication procedures in accordance with PKC policy and required training.
- Complete medication records and related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure all annual medicals for participants are completed
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, injuries, concerns, and significant changes in a resident's condition as required.
- Ensure required health and safety checks are completed.
- Identify potential risks and communicate concerns to management promptly.

Staff Coaching, Direction & Communication

- Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and support to employees working within the group home.
- Assist employees in understanding and consistently following PKC policies, procedures, resident support plans, and established routines.
- Promote consistency in the delivery of supports.




- Assist with orientation and on-the-job training of current employees.
- Encourage effective teamwork, communication, and cooperation among employees.
- Identify and communicate operational, attendance, performance, documentation, or other employee concerns to management.
- Provide factual information and documentation to management when concerns arise.
- Support management in addressing identified concerns by reinforcing expectations and established procedures.
- Encourage a respectful, professional, and positive work environment.
- The Group Home Operator does not have disciplinary authority. Disciplinary matters and formal employment decisions remain the responsibility of management.

Household & Operational Responsibilities

- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the group home.
- Ensure household cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and other household responsibilities are completed.
- Assist residents with meal planning and preparation while promoting healthy choices and independence.
- Monitor household food, supplies, and other required items.
- Complete or coordinate routine household tasks with the support team.
- Identify maintenance, repair, or safety concerns and report them to the appropriate person.
- Ensure the home and vehicles, where applicable, are maintained in a safe and appropriate condition.
- Assist with household expenditures and maintain receipts and related documentation in accordance with PKC procedures.
- Help ensure the home is welcoming, organized, and appropriately maintained.

Documentation & Communication

- Complete all required resident, medication, incident, financial, and operational documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure documentation completed by staff is accurate, complete, and consistent with PKC expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident, employee, and organizational information.
- Communicate relevant information and concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with families, guardians, healthcare providers, community professionals, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Participate in meetings, training, planning activities, and other organizational activities as required.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.

Participant Spending Money & Financial Accountability





- Support participants with the management and use of their personal spending money in accordance with PKC policies and established participant-specific procedures.
- Assist participants in making choices about how they wish to use their personal funds while respecting their independence, preferences, and right to make decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of participant spending money, purchases, deposits, withdrawals, and balances as required.
- Ensure receipts and other supporting documentation are obtained and maintained for participant purchases.
- Reconcile participant spending money records and balances as required by PKC procedures.
- Ensure participant funds are kept secure and separate from PKC organizational funds and employee personal funds.
- Ensure participant spending money is used only for the participant for whom the funds are held and for the intended purpose.
- Support participants to develop and maintain financial skills and independence wherever appropriate.
- Ensure financial information and records relating to participants are maintained confidentially.

Qualifications & Skills The successful candidate will have:

- Experience working with adults experiencing cognitive disabilities, developmental disabilities, or other support needs.
- Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership and coaching to others.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when responding to challenging or unexpected situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
- Good written documentation and computer skills.

Required Training & Conditions of Employment Successful candidates must be willing to:

- Complete all PKC-required training
- Provide a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening, as required by PKC.
- Meet requirements for driving and insurance coverage .

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: $21.85-$23.23 per hour
