Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating client care in accordance with established standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. The Manager provides leadership to the nursing and care team and ensures that each client receives high-quality, individualized care that supports their health, well-being, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee health care programs for residents, ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and Provincial regulations and the standards established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses Association.
- Coordinate, schedule, and monitor staffing requirements within the nursing department to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
- Supervise nursing department personnel, establish performance goals, provide guidance, and support ongoing staff development.
- Ensure the effective implementation and ongoing monitoring of the infection prevention and control program.
- Coordinate client health care services with family physicians and other health care professionals and service providers as required.
- Review each client’s care profile and develop, implement, and regularly evaluate individualized service plans to ensure clients receive the appropriate level and quality of care.
- Meet with clients and their families to address concerns, resolve issues, assess changing needs, and develop or modify service plans as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential nursing and medical records for all clients.
- Coordinate and/or provide staff orientation, training,
and ongoing in-service education to maintain appropriate standards of care and professional development.
- Actively participate in and support all Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Infection Control, and Quality Assurance programs.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and manage operations in accordance with the approved monthly budget.
Performance Requirements
- Consistently adhere to the standards outlined in the Provincial Home Support Operations Manual and ensure these standards are reflected in the day-to-day practices and performance of departmental staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, residents, clients, families, and external health care and service providers.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision while demonstrating the ability to lead, supervise, and support others.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism, confidentiality, accountability, and client-centred care.
Technical Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
- Current registration as a Registered Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses Association.
- Certification in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health Act.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Solid written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant health care documentation and administrative systems.
