This role provides psychosocial consultation, clinical assessment, clinical intervention, and counselling services to adult and pediatric oncology patients and their families, with a particular focus on supporting those who experience barriers to equitable access to cancer care.The Clinician II delivers culturally safe, trauma‑ and violence‑informed care that acknowledges the social, cultural, and structural factors affecting health and wellbeing. Working within an interdisciplinary oncology team, the clinician actively participates in departmental education and research and contributes to a welcoming, equitable, and culturally protected care environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide psychosocial consultation, clinical assessment, intervention, and counselling to oncology patients and families.Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, community organisations, and service partners.Maintain knowledge of community resources to support patients and families.Apply health equity, social determinants of health,



and anti‑racism principles to care delivery.Implement trauma‑ and violence‑informed care in patient interactions and care planning.Manage crisis situations and conduct assessments of high‑risk patients.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, colleagues, and administrators.Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional regulations.QualificationsMaster’s degree in Social Work, clinical counselling, or an associated discipline from an accredited institution.Clinical internship or field placement from an accredited program.Completion of Indigenous cultural safety and anti‑racism training.Minimum three (3) years of clinical counselling or psychosocial consultation experience within the last five years.Understanding of the impacts of colonisation, systemic racism, and historical trauma on health and wellbeing is preferred.Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or other equity‑deserving populations is an asset.Skills and AbilitiesExpertise in psychosocial consultation, clinical assessment, intervention, and counselling within an interdisciplinary healthcare setting.Strong collaboration skills with health professionals, community partners,



and service providers.Extensive knowledge of resources supporting cancer patients and families.Deep understanding of health equity, social determinants of health, and structural barriers.Proficiency in culturally safe care principles and responsive care for diverse backgrounds.Knowledge of trauma‑ and violence‑informed care and its application.Skills in crisis intervention and assessment of complex psychosocial or high‑risk situations.Excellent interpersonal, written communication, problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and organisational skills.Competence with Microsoft Office and health‑care software (e.G., ARIA, EPR, RL6).Licenses, Registrations, and DesignationMust be registered or eligible for, and maintain registration with, an appropriate Manitoba or Canadian professional licensing body.Physical RequirementsAbility to travel between sites is required.May encounter situations of heightened distress or conflict involving patients, families, or colleagues.Occasional extended work hours may be required.Other RequirementsMust have a satisfactory employment record.Must be legally able to work in Canada.Proficiency in French is an asset.Additional InformationSubject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check, and a Child Abuse Registry Check.
