Job Profile: Registered Nurse
We are currently hiring a Health & Wellness Advisor to support client's Integrated Disability Management (IDM) function at the downtown Calgary office. This role is well suited to a Disability Management professional with strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Working in office with the Health & Wellness team, you will support employees and leaders through the effective management of short-term disability (STD) and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) claims, with a focus on safe, timely, and sustainable return to work.
Location & Schedule:
- Calgary head office.
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (8:00 am to 4:30 pm)
Compensation: Compensation will be competitive and aligned with experience and scope of responsibility. Rates are structured in accordance with HHS internal guidelines and client requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Manage and adjudicate employee STD claims in accordance with applicable legislation and client-specific case management practices
· Manage WCB claims, including coordination of cost relief and appeals activities
· Assess employee fitness for work and communicate restrictions and limitations to business stakeholders
· Identify and coordinate appropriate medical interventions to support employee recovery
· Collaborate with employees, healthcare providers, and business leaders to develop transitional return-to-work plans
· Educate stakeholders on STD, LTD, and WCB programs, including roles, responsibilities, and expectations
· Exercise professional and ethical judgment in the collection, use, and disclosure of personal health information
· Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic documentation and records
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medical or human sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
· Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)
· Minimum of three years of occupational health experience preferred. Candidates without direct occupational health experience must demonstrate strong case management and acute care experience, with hands-on clinical field work strongly preferred.
Minimum two years of claims and or disability management experience, with direct WCB exposure
· Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) - preferred
· Strong working knowledge of disability management best practices and applicable legislation
· Expert understanding of workers’ compensation policies, procedures, and legislation
· Working knowledge of STD plans and long-term disability programs
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Cority is considered an asset
· Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
· Clear, professional communication style and comfort working with diverse stakeholders
