We are looking for a select few on call part-time casual candidates to assist us in the roll of Hearse Driver & Funeral Service Attendant for the transportation of human remains to and from their ceremony and disposition. Our growing mortuary company services a number of funeral homes and institutions throughout the lower mainland. We collect deceased clients and transport them to/from a funeral home, place of ceremony and then disposition location.
We need team members who want the honour of handling human remains and assist the funeral director and the deceased’s family in the ceremony and disposition they are providing them. You are the right fit if you like to drive, are a kind and helpful person willing to serve others and are capable of the physical labour required to do this work.
You will need your own transportation but will be using a company vehicle as required. You are required to maintain the appearance of the vehicle, by making sure it is always clean, organized and properly stocked. Observing the needs of regular maintenance and washing is required.
You will be assigned additional work, including funeral attending, pallbearering, stock order pick ups,
as well as out of town transportation where an overnight stay may be required, in those situations meals and accommodations will be provided.
All positions have the following minimum requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current BC Class 5 or higher drivers license
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs+ push/pull up to 200 lbs
General daily computer knowledge
Must have suitable professional appearance, as we serve families of various cultural and religious traditions. This means tattoos must be covered by business attire, hair can not be ‘crayola-coloured’ and piercings must be unobtrusive. Most important of all, a kind smile and valuable attitude.
Must pass criminal background check
Provide acceptable drivers abstract
Must have own personal transportation
Must sign off on privacy non-disclosure agreement
Pay is received via direct deposit
3 Month probationary period
