Help Desk Support Technician

Part-Time (up to 20 hours/per week)

We are seeking a Help Desk Support Technician to join our Information Technology (IT) team and provide first-line technical support to CCD staff. This position is responsible for responding to day-to-day IT support requests, troubleshooting common technical issues, and assisting staff with hardware, software, accounts, and connectivity needs.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

IT Support and Troubleshooting

- Provides first line technical support to staff and responds to IT support requests in a timely and professional manner;
- Troubleshoots common hardware, software, network, printer, and connectivity issues;
- Assists staff with computer, monitor, printer, mobile device, and other IT equipment setup and configuration;
- Supports user account access, password resets, and basic permissions issues;
- Escalates issues requiring additional technical expertise to the IT Lead;




- Provides basic guidance to staff on the use of technology and common applications;

Equipment and Software

- Installs, configures, and updates approved software and applications;
- Assists with onboarding and offboarding of staff, including equipment setup and collection, account creation and deactivation;
- Assists with maintaining IT equipment, inventory, and related documentation;
- Imaging and swap laptop & desktops;

Documentation and Security

- Documents support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions;
- Follows CCD's IT security, privacy, and technology policies and procedures;
- Performs other IT-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications required:

- Post secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Recent graduate or approximately one (1) year of experience in an IT help desk, technical support, or similar role
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, and common business applications
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valuable communication with the ability to explain technical issues in a clear and approachable manner
- Ability to prioritize requests and manage multiple support needs during business hours




- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle user information appropriately
- Valid “G” Ontario driver’s license and access to a safe and reliable access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel to various CCD locations
- Satisfactory Police Clearance
- Must work in a safe manner and promote the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and the community as outlined within CCD policies
- Sensitivity to the needs of the vulnerable population with disabilities, including challenges in cognition

Compensation: Hourly base rate of $27.00; with an additional 5% in lieu of benefits, and 6% vacation pay Work Location: Main office in Whitby, ON. Travel required to various CCD locations throughout the Durham Region. Mileage reimbursement will be provided according to CCD policies.

Hours of Work: Working hours are between 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Part-Time (up to 20 hours per week)
