Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HET Truck / Trailer Mechanic Apprentice or Journeyman to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy trucks, and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
- Use schematics and technical manuals in combination with experience to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely for assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks.
- Assist with heavy lifting using appropriate equipment such as hoists, forklifts or jacks while following safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs for all performed work where applicable
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and adherence to safety standards.
Qualifications
- Shop or dealership experience or equivalent hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks and trailers is highly preferred.
- For truck position mechanical knowledge of engine systems, electrical wiring, schematics interpretation, and hydraulic components.
- For trailer position knowledge of various air and spring suspension systems along with disc and drum brake setups.
- Body work experience on trucks or trailers an asset
- Experience with vehicle repair techniques including power tools use, and general maintenance procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients.
- Troubleshooting electrical or mechanical issues is a plus.
- Able to diagnose and repair ABS systems on Trailers or Trucks
- CVI Truck or trailer certificate an asset but not required
