About the role

Reporting to the Social Development Coordinator, the Homemaker is responsible for supporting community members with day-to-day home support, housekeeping, meal preparation, and related duties. The Homemaker position supports the health, safety, comfort, and well-being of clients by assisting with basic household tasks in a respectful, dependable, and confidential manner. This important role helps improve quality of life to PFN’s community members.

What you will do The Homemaker’s duties/tasks/responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

· Routine housekeeping activities that assist in maintaining a clean and tidy living environment for clients

· Collect and remove trash/recycling

· Preparation of meals, meal planning

· Light laundry, ironing, mending

· Wash & change bed linens/towels

· Maintain accurate and timely reports/notes/forms for effective file management & overall reporting

· Detect and report immediately any noticeable changes to clients’ health

· Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, and practices

· Follow any prescribed care plans

· Assist with day programs of the clients – if any

· Short-term respite care – if needed

· Non-medical transportation – if needed

· Weekly medication pick-ups & grocery shopping

· Complete and maintain records of daily activities, observations, and hours of service

· Complete any training sessions as required





· Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to all clients

Education & Experience

· Certification in homemaking/homecare, personal care, cleaning, janitorial or community service

· WHMIS – required (or willing to obtain at time of hire)

· Violence & Harassment Prevention Training – required (or willing to obtain at time of hire)

· FoodSafe – required (or willing to obtain at time of hire)

· Occupational Health & Safety First Aid – Level 1 – required (or willing to obtain at the time of hire)

· Previous homemaking, home care, janitorial, cleaning, personal support, or community service experience

· Experience working with First Nations and an understanding of Nuu-chah-nulth culture/practice/protocols
