Accommodations are available during the hiring process, upon request.ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Project Engineering Consultant, you will provide management and support of the City’s project management framework through the development, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure program and project management processes and practices for Infrastructure Services. You will act as a trusted advisor to Senior Project Engineers, Program Managers, and leaders on complex infrastructure projects, providing advice, guidance, and mentorship in the management and delivery of the City’s capital infrastructure projects with a specific focus on cost estimating. Primary duties include:Advise, mentor, and coach Senior Project Engineers in all phases of the Project Management lifecycle. Develop business cases, project charters, and project management plans.Collaborate with internal cost estimating specialists and external consultants to ensure high-quality, consistent, and value-added estimating support for project teams.Apply expert judgement to assess the quality, completeness, and appropriateness of cost estimates including assumptions, exclusions, methodologies,



and level of uncertainty.Serve as a primary contact for Project Engineers requiring external cost estimating support.Provide direction and oversight to third‑party consulting firms completing cost estimates, ensuring compliance with City cost estimating standards and methodologies.Support procurement activities related to cost estimating services, including contributing to RFP development and evaluation of proposals.Support training and knowledge sharing to improve consistent application of cost estimating practices across Infrastructure Services.QualificationsA degree in Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant, progressively responsible infrastructure project management, construction, and professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status or licensure and practicing status by the first day of work.A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (or provincial equivalent) and the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes is required.Demonstrated experience in cost estimating, cost management, and cost governance for municipal infrastructure or equivalent large‑scale infrastructure projects (e.G., transportation, underground utilities, utility facilities,



municipal facilities).Construction experience with Municipal projects would be an asset.Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) Skilled Level Certification (CCP, CEP) will be considered a strong asset.Project Management Certification (e.G. PMP, PRINCE2, etc.) will also be considered an asset.Proven ability to apply independent judgement to complex technical, commercial, and risk‑based decisions.Solid communication and consulting skills, with the ability to influence, advise, and build credibility with senior interested parties and multidisciplinary teams.Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.Pre‑employment RequirementsSuccessful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.WorkstyleThis position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
