OVERVIEWWe are looking for summer students who are available to work rotating shifts from June 2026 to August 31, 2026.The starting hourly rate for the position is $20.28.The overall responsibility for the position is to complete all work assigned in accordance with supplied work instructions and standard procedures.DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide support and assistance to the packaging and process teams.Clean food contact and non‑food contact equipment (fans, electrical pans, etc.) and structural parts (ceilings, walls, drains, and floors) using specific procedures as directed.Lifting, cutting and emptying scrap sugar bags of up to 20 kg (40 kg with a team lift).Be able to manoeuvre large buggies full of reject sugar.Operate powered hand trucks with a full load of sugar.Perform all responsibilities following established GMP Standards, Food Safety, and Health & Safety policies and procedures.Handle job duties that may be created on a case‑by‑case basis based on business needs.Keep the Sanitation Supervisor informed of any unsanitary practices that may be occurring in the plant.Follow sanitation procedures.Track and record sanitation department requirements accurately.Perform cleaning assignments as scheduled by the Supervisor and assist/training other associates as required.Other duties may be assigned as necessary.WORK EXPERIENCES AND EDUCATIONMust be a student enrolled in a College or University program.One year of work in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.Experience in a food plant with an understanding of food safety and GMP requirements is an asset.Be able to follow simple instructions.Carry out routine but varied tasks.Operate packaging machinery, powered hand trucks, and equipment.Apply proper cleaning procedures.Experience, Qualifications, and Educational RequirementsWorking experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.Knowledge of dry/wet cleaning processes and chemical functionality is an asset.Understanding of WHMIS and adherence to all safety and good manufacturing practices.Work well in teams.Work in a safe and conscientious manner independently with minimum supervision.Excel in a rapid‑paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi‑tasking is essential.Oral and written communication skills.Physical EffortRegular periods of continuous physical exertion are required.May be required to lift and/or move up to 20 kg.Stand for extended periods of time.Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.See and handle products, machinery, and hand tools.Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including slippery floors.May be exposed to equipment and processing mediums exceeding several hundred degrees Fahrenheit and noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
