ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION:

The Mark Preece Family House (MPFH) provides a welcoming place to stay, compassionate support and a sense of community for patients and caregivers of loved ones receiving medical care in a Hamilton hospital. As a 24/7 organization, we provide families with a safe, comfortable and supportive environment whenever they need us. Our team offers a warm welcome, practical support and a sense of community during what can be an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout guest rooms and common areas of the House. A clean and well-maintained space helps families feel cared for and provides a sense of comfort and normalcy during what can be a very difficult time in their lives.

The Housekeeper works both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating attention to detail, reliability, initiative, and a respectful approach when interacting with families, guests, staff, and volunteers.

A Housekeeping Checklist is provided to guide daily, weekly, and routine cleaning responsibilities and to ensure that House standards are consistently maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain a clean, comfortable, welcoming, and safe environment throughout the House for families, guests, staff, and volunteers.
- Clean and maintain guest rooms and common areas, including kitchens, dining and family spaces, washrooms, hallways, offices, and other shared spaces.
- Complete daily, weekly, and periodic housekeeping duties in accordance with the Housekeeping Checklist and established standards.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and cleaning surfaces, fixtures, furniture, floors, and other areas as required.
- Prepare guest rooms following check-out and ensure they are clean,



organized, and ready for next family.
- Maintain laundry areas and ensure linens, towels, cleaning products, and other housekeeping supplies are clean, organized, and adequately stocked.
- Respond promptly to spills, messes, and other immediate housekeeping needs, and report maintenance concerns, damage, or safety issues to the appropriate staff.
- Follow all housekeeping, health and safety, sanitation, and infection-prevention policies and procedures.
- Interact with families, guests, volunteers, and staff in a friendly, respectful, compassionate, and professional manner, while respecting the privacy and dignity of those staying at the House.
- Work cooperatively with housekeeping volunteers and provide assistance or direction as needed to maintain House standards.
- Support other House operations and perform other related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, healthcare, or related experience is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a setting where compassion, confidentiality, and respectful interaction with clients or guests is significant is an asset.

- Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the mission and values of The Mark Preece Family House.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing and walking for extended periods; bending, reaching, kneeling and stretching; lifting and carrying cleaning supplies and equipment; and performing repetitive tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning bathrooms.
- Clear vulnerable sector police check required.
