The base salary will be $63,730 - $90,820 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

About Us
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Food and Nutrition Sciences, and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and four Research Centres. The faculty has approximately 5500 undergraduate students and more than 1600 Graduate students (250 PhD students).
Responsibilities
The Human Resources Coordinator will support out a broad range of human resources functions and will facilitate the implementation of human resources practices, policies, and programs. The Human Resources Coordinator will support staff recruitment, ensuring that candidates move smoothly from application to onboarding while adhering to all institutional HR policies. The Human Resources Coordinator will act as the primary point of contact for candidate logistics, maintaining recruitment systems, updating HR files,
and providing vital administrative support to our internal recruitment teams and hiring managers. The role will act as a resource and provide guidance and support on human resources-related issues in compliance with Western policies, procedures, collective agreements, and government legislation.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree with a focus on Human Resources or Business Administration
- Completion or working towards CHRP/ CHRL designation preferred
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in Human Resources with accountability for recruitment
- Experience ideally in a post secondary institution preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices
- Knowledge of Western collective agreements and employment policies preferred
- Familiarity with the Employment Standards Act, and other relevant legislation
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
- Verbal communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, and provide a rationale for action
- Communication skills to write clearly, and adapt communication style and content for intended audiences in a professional manner
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to apply critical thinking to evaluate information and make appropriate decisions or recommendations
- Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a professional and timely manner
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
- Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with highly confidential subjects or issues
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
- Ability to take responsibility for own work and ensure that deadlines are met and outcomes are achieved
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate University guidelines, policies and practices to key stakeholders
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, while being open to trying new ideas and working methods
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
