ABACS is currently seeking agile, energetic, and compassionate individuals for the role of Instructor Therapist (IT).
As an Instructor Therapist, you will have the opportunity to work directly with children with autism, delivering one-on-one (and sometimes small group) individualized programming in a centre-based setting. This role requires high energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to working intensively on specific goals with young children. You’ll be working closely with children between the ages of 2–12, which may involve lifting, carrying, and engaging in hands-on physical tasks as part of care interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 service delivery using evidence-based teaching methods.
- Manage personal care requirements and support practical daily interactions with children.
- Prepare and organize programming materials according to individual goals and objectives.
- Perform daily cleaning and organizational tasks.
- Collect data and track progress for each learner.
- Communicate daily with parents/guardians, both in writing and verbally.
- Update individualized programs based on client progress.
- Assist with the administration and documentation of the ABLLS-R assessment as required.
- Complete mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience is an asset, but training will be provided.
- Special consideration given to those with or working towards a degree, diploma, or certificate in a related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Psychology, Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Work, etc.).
- Must be outgoing, energetic, dependable, and highly organized with a passion for working with children.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an asset.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
Additional Details:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Hours: Must be available within ABACS operating hours (Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM – 5:00 PM).
