Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and people-focused Intergenerational Program Coordinator to support the development and delivery of programming that brings children, youth, and seniors together at BGC St. John’s.
This position is intended for an EI-eligible participant and provides a structured, supervised work experience opportunity.
The Coordinator will help develop new and engaging programs and activities designed specifically to create meaningful connections between children, youth, and older adults. A key focus of the position will be developing program ideas that encourage mentorship, recreation, wellness, cultural exchange, creativity, and social connection across generations.
The Coordinator will also play an important role in participant recruitment and engagement, helping to connect with children, youth, seniors, families, and community members and encourage participation. A particular focus will be placed on developing and supporting senior programming, creating opportunities for seniors to stay active, connected, and engaged while sharing their experiences, skills, and knowledge with younger generations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate engaging intergenerational programs that align with community interests and organizational goals.
- Develop fun, meaningful activities that encourage connections between youth, seniors, and community members.
- Support program delivery and participant engagement.
- Help identify new opportunities for mentorship, recreation, wellness, cultural exchange, and social engagement.
- Support an inclusive setting where participants feel welcome, valued, and comfortable participating.
- Gather participant feedback and assist with program evaluation and reporting.
- Maintain organized program records, attendance information, and resources.
- Work collaboratively with BGC staff and contribute to other program and community activities as needed.
- Help recruit and engage participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Build positive relationships with community organizations and program partners.
- Facilitate public speaking engagements to introduce programs, share success stories, and foster community partnerships.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely and successful program execution.
- Collect data on program participation and outcomes to evaluate impact and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain administrative records, prepare reports, and handle correspondence related to program activities.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable working with people of different ages and backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Creative and willing to develop new activities and ideas.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build positive relationships with participants, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Experience with event planning, community programs, recreation, communications, or volunteer work is an asset.
- Experience working with children, youth, seniors, or diverse community groups is an asset.
- A willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Interest in community development and creating positive connections within the community is an asset.
Pay: $16.35-$17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
