Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile and proactive IT Helpdesk & Deskside Support Specialist to join our team in a full-time, permanent capacity. In this role, you will provide critical Tier 1/2 technical support both remotely and onsite across client locations in Calgary and surrounding communities.

You will act as the face of our IT operations, blending technical expertise with exceptional customer service to keep our clients running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

- Technical Support: Deliver prompt, skilled IT support to clients via telephone, remote tools, and onsite visits.
- PC & Peripheral Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, application, and peripheral issues for Windows-based systems (including Bluetooth devices, scanners, and specialty hardware).
- Network & Connectivity: Troubleshoot TCP/IP, DNS, and general network issues, tracing faults across internal networks, external networks, and VPN connections.
- Systems Administration Support: Assist in maintaining Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems, user accounts, and core network services.
- Print Management: Configure, troubleshoot, and resolve printer and print server issues within network environments.
- Client Relations: Build trusted relationships with clients by clearly communicating technical solutions and understanding the business impact of IT downtime.

Position Requirements

- Education: Minimum of a 2-year post-secondary diploma or degree in an IT-related field.
- Communication: Strong English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Customer Service Mindset: A clear understanding of modern customer service principles and how reliable IT support directly impacts business success.
- Transportation: A valid driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle are mandatory for travel to client sites across Calgary and surrounding communities.

Technical Qualifications & Core Competencies

- Network Infrastructure: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing,



and VPN networks with proven ability to trace and resolve communication faults.
- Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of Windows Server and Windows Desktop OS, alongside a foundational understanding of Linux/Unix environments (e.g., Ubuntu, SUSE, SCO) and VMware.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills with a methodical approach to root-cause analysis and troubleshooting under pressure.

Preferred Assets (Our Ideal Candidate)

- Experience: 2+ years of hands-on IT Helpdesk/Deskside experience supporting multi-site environments.
- Cloud & SaaS: Hands-on experience configuring, migrating, and managing Office 365 tenants.
- Industry Software: Experience with practice management platforms specific to the Dental and Orthodontic industries.
- Data Protection: Familiarity with Enterprise-level local and cloud backup solutions.
- Work Style: Exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize high-impact issues, and stay composed in fast-paced environments.
