The Igloolik housing Association is accepting resumes from qualified candidates holding a journeyman red seal in plumbing for a six month or 1 year position. The Maintenance plumber performs work to maintain and repair Local Housing Organization (LHO) buildings and works.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for the following functions:
Inspect plumbing components in buildings to ensure they are in satisfactory condition
Complete building maintenance works including preventative maintenance, demand maintenance and renovations in accordance with the Work Orders, Plans, and Specifications
Complete reports for all maintenance and repairs accurately
Act as a Mentor to the apprentices or trades helpers that are employed with the organization
Adhere to safety policies and procedures
Fill out appropriate documentation regarding maintenance on the houses.
Qualifications:
Journeyman Plumber certification with minimum of 5 years experience in residential plumbing service and maintenance
Experience with residential heating systems A positive working knowledge of Northern Building Practices and National Building code of Canada
Supervisory experience and experience working in a cross culture environment would be considered an asset.
The ability to compile or forecast the required list of inventory items for a job and for a given year.
Able to respond to emergency situations as they arise during and after work hours.
This is a term position with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. Hourly rate is from $53.06 per hour with an additional Northern Allowance of $12.96 per hour.
Travel to and from the worksite is provided by the employer. Subsidized accommodations are also available for this position. Candidates applying must clearly identify their eligibility in order to receive priority under Article 23 of the Nunavut Lands Claim Agreement.
