Job summary The Junior Data and Systems Support Analyst supports the Business Intelligence Innovations department with automation, SharePoint management, and other company projects that contribute to data analytics initiatives. The role also provides IT support and training to employees across departments, so that Microsoft products are used effectively and in line with Canadian Shield Health Care Services standards and policies.
This is a development position. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced team, receive structured training, and build technical competencies that are transferable across the health care and technology sectors in Northern Ontario.
Duties and responsibilities
Automation and Systems Support:
- Assist the department with automating processes using Power Automate and other tools.
- Manage and maintain SharePoint sites so that they support ongoing data analytics projects.
- Provide technical support for data-related systems and platforms.,
Training and User Support:
- Deliver training sessions to new hires and existing employees on Microsoft products including Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
- Act as a first point of contact for troubleshooting issues related to Microsoft applications.
- Develop user guides and documentation to help employees use Microsoft tools effectively.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with other departments to understand their IT and data-related needs.
- Collaborate with the Business Intelligence Innovations team on cross-departmental projects.
- Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders so that work stays aligned with company goals and standards.
Standards and Compliance:
- Ensure that all IT support and training activities comply with Canadian Shield Health Care Services policies and standards, including information privacy obligations.
- Keep current with developments in Microsoft technologies and recommend good practice to the team.
Supervision, Training and Development: The successful candidate will receive direct on-site supervision throughout the 52-week term. This is a structured development position rather than an unsupported placement, and the company commits to the following.
Supervision:
- Direct, on-site, day-to-day supervision by the assigned supervisor,
with the Director of Business Intelligence Innovations providing overall direction for the role.
- Scheduled one-to-one meetings with the supervisor, weekly during the first three months and at least twice monthly thereafter.
- An assigned point of contact within the team for day-to-day technical questions.
Structured Onboarding and Training:
- A documented onboarding plan covering company systems, information privacy obligations under PHIPA, security practices, and departmental standards.
- A written development plan setting out the technical competencies to be acquired during the term, agreed with the supervisor in the first month.
- Protected time for structured learning, including vendor training materials and preparation toward relevant certifications where appropriate to the role.
- Exposure to work across departments so that the competencies acquired are transferable beyond this position.
Education and Experience:
- A degree or diploma in information technology, computer science, business, data analytics or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 products, particularly Power Automate, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience or education in data analytics and business intelligence is an asset.
- Previous experience in an IT support role is an asset.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong technical skills, with a focus on Microsoft applications.
- Clear communication and valuable interpersonal skills.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, MS Graph API, Power BI, advanced Power Query, Python and JSON is an asset.
- Project coordination skills or experience is an asset.
Certifications:
- Microsoft certifications in areas such as Azure, Power BI, SharePoint or data analytics are an asset. Examples include Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Power BI Data Analyst Associate, and Microsoft Certified:
Azure Data Scientist Associate. Support toward certification is available during the term.
Selection Process All applicants are assessed against the same criteria through the following steps.
- Review of applications received by the closing date.
- Shortlisted candidates receive a practical case study to prepare before the first interview. The case study involves tasks related to IT support, data analytics and automation.
- Candidates who progress after the first interview receive complementary tasks based on the same case study, to complete before a second and final interview.
- Selection is based on the case study, the interviews, and the qualifications set out above.

Schedule
- Monday – Friday (8 hour shifts). A minimum of 35 hours per week.
