Overview The Junior Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery, specifically the Rough Terrain Forklift (Zoom Boom) throughout the construction site. They must adhere to all safety guidelines, perform routine maintenance on the equipment, and communicate effectively with team members. Follow the direction of the Equipment Operator.
Requirement
Experience and training in operating a rough terrain forklift (Zoom Boom) are required, along with a valid Class 5 driver’s license. Applicants should have documented operating hours or be in the process of gaining them. A basic rigging course would be considered and asset, as well as a Class 1 or 3 driver’s license.
Duties
- Operate the Rough Terrain Forklift (Zoom Boom) and other equipment as required, with proper guidance and supervision.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment
- Comply with Alberta’s traffic laws at all times while operating within the Town of Canmore.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to identify and address any potential safety issues
- Conduct daily required safety paperwork (such as Field Level Hazard Assessments)
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to equipment operation
- Load and unload construction materials, and handle materials as required
- Perform some carpentry and miscellaneous carpentry-related duties
- Assist on-site contractors as directed by the Site Superintendent
- Manage the recycling/construction waste process and ensure recyclable materials are separated as required
- Clean sites and supervise site labour (as required) to maintain overall site cleanliness and orderliness
- Assist with snow removal as required

Pay: $26.25-$28.25 per hour
