OPTrust is seeking a Workday Specialist to join the People and Communications team. The role focuses on implementing and supporting Workday solutions to automate and streamline HR processes, building relationships across the organization, and partnering with stakeholders to translate business needs into system solutions.About the Role You will report to the Senior Manager, HR Technology and Operations, and work alongside one other Workday Specialist as a team of three. Responsibilities span configuration, testing, reporting, security, and collaboration with IT and the People Team to ensure effective Workday functionality across modules.What You'll Do Act as the Workday configuration lead for HCM, Absence, Time Tracking and Recruiting, including ownership of reporting and security within these domains.Work with Workday Payroll (Canada) concepts as an asset and understand how upstream configurations affect payroll outcomes.Design, configure, and maintain Workday business processes and system configurations to support current operations and future needs.Support Workday biannual releases, including regression testing across key business processes and updating configurations as required.Partner with stakeholders across the People Team to validate changes, assess deprecated functionality, and ensure a smooth transition from preview to production.Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements, translate business needs into system solutions, and configure, test, and validate Workday functionality.Design, build,
and maintain Workday reports and dashboards to support strategic and operational decision-making.Document requirements, business processes, and test scenarios, and maintain configuration change documentation for audit readiness and compliance.Work closely with IT to support Workday integrations, including inbound and outbound interfaces with internal systems and external vendors.Manage day-to-day HR operations and support, including monitoring the HR inbox, responding to employee inquiries, fulfilling ad hoc reporting requests, troubleshooting system issues, and escalating to Workday support as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.What You Bring 3 - 5 years of experience in the Workday ecosystem with hands-on configuration across HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, including reporting and security.Workday Pro certifications in relevant areas (HCM, Time Tracking/Absence, Recruiting, Reporting, Security) are preferred.Experience supporting Workday biannual releases, including impact analysis, regression testing,
and configuration updates.Strong experience designing and maintaining Workday reports and dashboards with the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights.Solid understanding of HR processes and the employee lifecycle, aligning system design to business needs.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshootissues and translate requirements into configurations.High attention to detail with documentation of requirements, test scenarios, and configuration changes to support audit/compliance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence stakeholders.Continuous improvement mindset; self-motivated and comfortable in a lean environment with multiple priorities.Experience with Workday Payroll (Canada) is an asset, or interest in developing expertise in this area.Experience in a unionized environment with hands-on Workday configuration is strongly desired.Additional Information Please submit your application via Workday by June 19, 2026.
