- Provide field safety support to supervisors, foremen, workers, leadership, and project teams- Maintain a visible safety presence and ensure a secure work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors according to the Site Safety Management Plan- Communicate, coach, and assist field staff in meeting safety expectations- Participate in incident investigations, determine root causes, and support corrective actions- Participate in project safety meetings to review issues, trends, upcoming conditions, and events- Communicate safety issues and obligations to the Project Manager and supervisors- Review daily tailboards, verify hazards are addressed, and provide worker feedback- Perform observations, inspections, and emergency preparedness drills- Review and communicate findings through safety meetings and postings- Facilitate weekly safety meetings, capture minutes, and prepare weekly and monthly safety reports- Support supervisors and foremen in developing and reviewing JSAs with crews and ensuring availability at the work site- Apply and reinforce Valard's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual- Review applicable legislation and standards and inform Project Managers of relevant changes- Report to the Regional Safety Lead- Work a field-based schedule of 20 days on and 10 days off, with 11-hour daysRequirements- Post-Secondary education in a related field- 5 years of construction site safety experience- A combination of education and experience may be considered- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST)
Certification- Experience with Microsoft Office applications- Proven experience dealing with client requirements and providing administrative assistance with matters relating to safety- A valid driver's license- Demonstrated experience supporting electrical construction projects- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) certification- Demonstrated familiarity with applicable provincial legislations- Root cause investigation experience- Legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictionsCore CompetenciesDemonstrates expertise in field safety management, including incident investigation, safety compliance, and effective communication with project teams.
