Kitchen & Bath Designer
Wage: $19.76/Hour + Commission
Reporting to the Kitchen Design Manager The Kitchen & Bath Designer is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while developing kitchen and bathroom design solutions that meet each customer's needs, preferences, and budget. The Kitchen & Bath Designer uses a consultative sales approach to understand the customer's project, provide product recommendations, develop accurate designs and quotes, and guide the customer through the purchasing process. This position requires strong attention to detail, creativity, organization, and the ability to manage multiple customer projects in a fast-paced retail workplace.
The Kitchen & Bath Designer works closely with customers, suppliers, contractors, installers, and other store departments to ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping customers bring their renovation and dream kitchen or bathroom projects to life while achieving individual and department sales objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet and engage customers in a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable manner.
- Use a consultative selling approach to understand customers' project requirements, design preferences, timelines, and budgets.
- Recommend appropriate kitchen, bathroom, cabinetry, countertops, hardware, fixtures, and related products.
- Develop strong relationships with customers and provide ongoing communication throughout the project.
- Achieve individual sales targets and contribute to overall Kitchen & Bath department sales goals.
- Follow up on outstanding quotes, leads, and customer inquiries to maximize sales opportunities.
- Identify complementary products and additional project requirements to increase customer value and ensure complete solutions.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and stay current with new products, promotions, trends, and design options.
Kitchen & Bath Design
- Meet with customers to assess their space, project requirements, and design objectives.
- Create kitchen and bathroom layouts and designs using available design software, such as 20/20, AutoCAD, or other applicable programs.
- Prepare accurate drawings, measurements, product specifications, and quotations.
- Assist customers in selecting cabinetry, countertops, sinks, faucets, hardware, lighting, storage solutions, and other related products.
- Review designs and quotes with customers and make revisions based on their feedback.
- Ensure designs are functional, practical, aesthetically pleasing, and consistent with customer requirements.
- Review measurements, dimensions, product specifications, and pricing carefully to minimize errors.
- Assist customers with understanding product lead times, ordering requirements, and project expectations.
Sales & Project Coordination
- Prepare and process special orders accurately and in accordance with Home Hardware procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding product availability, pricing, lead times, and order status.
- Coordinate with installation services and contractors when applicable.
- Communicate project information clearly to customers, installers, suppliers, and other store associates.
- Monitor outstanding orders and keep customers informed of changes or delays.
- Assist in resolving order discrepancies, product issues, damages, or customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all necessary products and components are identified before an order is finalized.
Store Operations
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional Kitchen & Bath showroom. - Ensure displays, samples, product literature, and promotional materials are current and properly presented.
- Assist customers with product knowledge in related departments when required.
- Work collaboratively with Sales Associates, Pro Desk, Contractors, Installation Services, Receiving, and other departments.
- Follow all Home Hardware policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Complete required paperwork, documentation, and system entries accurately and on time.
- Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of customer and business information.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 1–2+ years of experience in retail, sales, kitchen and bath design, cabinetry, construction, renovation, or a related field preferred. - Previous experience in a sales-driven environment is an asset.
- Kitchen and bathroom design experience is preferred.
- Experience with kitchen design software such as 20/20, AutoCAD, or comparable software is an asset. - Knowledge of cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and kitchen and bathroom products is preferred.
- Knowledge of residential construction and renovation practices is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand floor plans, blueprints, measurements, and basic construction drawings. - Previous experience with special orders and installation services is an asset.
Pay: $19.76 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week

- Thunder Bay, ON P7B 4A1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
