- Position: Lab Clerk
- Employment Type: Contract, Full-Time hours (up to 75 hours bi-weekly). Shifts are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
- Term: Fixed-term, six-month contract (with possibility of extension based on business needs and performance)
- Compensation: $18 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus 4% vacation pay.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Lab Clerk to join our team and provide clerical and administrative support to laboratory operations across multiple business lines. This role supports the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory through data entry, documentation, specimen and kit coordination, inventory support, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.

This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment, have strong attention to detail, and are comfortable working in a laboratory setting. The role includes hands-on activities such as lifting and carrying materials, sorting and handling samples, and supporting general laboratory operations.

Key Areas of Responsibility

- Load and unload mail bins on a daily basis.
- Transport mail bins and samples between designated locations and the Company office using a personal vehicle.
- Unpack, prepare and sort samples in appropriately labelled bins for further processing,



in accordance with established internal protocols and procedures.
- Assist with results calling and transcription activities as trained and assigned.
- Assist with inventory and kit management.
- Provide general laboratory support across multiple business lines, as trained and assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Recent graduates/new graduates will be considered.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification or post-secondary education in Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field is an asset.

Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare, laboratory, or administrative support environment is an asset.
- Experience with specimen handling, data entry, or inventory/kit management is an asset.
- Experience working with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or other computer systems is an asset.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment is an asset.

- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn laboratory information systems and other computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).




- Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable.
- Takes initiative and follows tasks through to completion.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Customer service-oriented with a professional and courteous approach.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle.
- Ability to safely lift and carry materials as required.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including two-handed data entry and specimen handling.
