About Mike’s Landscaping

Mike’s Landscaping is a well-established landscape company serving Muskoka and the surrounding area. We specialize in creating beautiful, functional outdoor spaces that complement the unique properties and natural surroundings of Muskoka.

We are looking for a Landscape Designer & Estimator with 2–3 years of relevant experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the creative side of landscape design but also understands that a great design needs to be practical, buildable and accurately priced.

The successful candidate will work closely with our clients, sales team, project management team and field crews to take projects from the initial site visit through design, estimating and preparation for construction.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Meet with clients on-site to discuss their property, ideas, priorities and budget.
- Assess site conditions, take measurements and gather the information required to develop designs and estimates.
- Create thoughtful and practical landscape designs for residential properties throughout Muskoka.
- Develop concept plans, planting plans and construction-ready drawings as required.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material lists.
- Build detailed project estimates including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors and other project costs.
- Review project scope to identify potential challenges, site-access considerations and additional costs before construction begins.
- Source material and supplier pricing as required.
- Work closely with the sales and project management teams to ensure designs align with client expectations and project budgets.
- Prepare clear information and job packages for field crews.
- Revise designs and estimates based on client feedback or changes in project scope.
- Maintain organized and accurate project files, drawings, estimates and client information.




- Participate in project hand-offs to ensure the field team understands the design intent and scope of work.

- Walkways and pathways
- Natural and manufactured stonework
- Retaining walls and landscape steps
- Waterfront landscapes
- Planting beds and gardens
- Trees, shrubs and perennial planting
- Grading and drainage considerations
- Sod, mulch and other softscape installations
- Complete property transformations

What We’re Looking For

- 2–3 years of experience in landscape design, landscape estimating or a similar role.
- Practical understanding of both hardscape and softscape construction.
- Ability to translate a client's ideas into an attractive, functional and buildable landscape design.
- Experience preparing estimates, material quantities and project takeoffs.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans, measurements and construction details.
- Strong plant knowledge and an understanding of plant selection appropriate for our Muskoka environment.
- Comfortable discussing projects and design ideas directly with clients.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail when preparing estimates.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience with landscape design/CAD or 3D visualization software.
- Experience with LMN or similar landscape estimating software is an asset.
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence and reliable transportation.
