Lead Carpenter – Custom Exhibits & Experiential Events

Build the pieces people remember.

If you're the kind of carpenter who looks at a set of drawings and immediately starts thinking about how to build it better, this could be your next shop. Jack Morton is looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter – Custom Exhibits & Experiential Events to join our Production team and build the custom environments, cabinetry, millwork, exhibits, and specialty pieces that bring brands to life.

This isn't repetitive production work. Every project is different. You'll build one-of-a-kind pieces for trade shows, branded environments, experiential events, and other high-profile productions—often working from creative concepts that have never been built before.

You'll bring your craftsmanship and technical expertise to projects where the details matter. And as the Lead, you'll have the opportunity to mentor other craftspeople, solve challenging fabrication problems, and help determine the smartest way to turn a design into reality.

What You'll Build

Your work may include:

- Custom cabinetry and millwork
- Counters, kiosks, and display fixtures
- Exhibit structures and architectural components
- Specialty scenic and branded elements
- Complex custom assemblies and one-off pieces
- High-end finished components for trade shows and experiential environments

You'll take projects from drawing to finished piece, using precision woodworking and fabrication techniques to create work that looks great, fits correctly, travels well, and stands up in a live-event environment.

What You'll Do

Craftsmanship

- Fabricate, assemble, and finish premium custom cabinetry, millwork, exhibits, and specialty components
- Read and interpret shop drawings, CAD plans, and design specifications
- Use advanced woodworking techniques including precision cutting, shaping,

laminating, joinery, and complex assemblies
- Work with a wide range of materials including plywood, MDF, melamine, laminates, veneers, solid wood, and specialty substrates
- Inspect your work—and your team's work—for accuracy, quality, durability, and finish
- Take ownership of projects from fabrication through completion

Lead From the Shop Floor

This is a working leadership role. You'll spend your time building, solving problems, and helping the team succeed—not sitting behind a desk.

- Lead by example and set the standard for craftsmanship
- Mentor cabinet makers and shop assistants
- Help assign work based on project priorities, skills, and deadlines
- Review work in progress and provide hands-on guidance
- Troubleshoot difficult fabrication and construction challenges
- Partner with the Shop Foreman, Production Manager, Project Managers, and Detailing team to keep projects moving

Help Us Build Better

We're always looking for smarter ways to build. You'll have a voice in improving drawings, fabrication methods, workflow, material usage, and shop efficiency. You'll also partner with the Detailing team to identify potential issues before they reach the shop floor.

And, of course, you'll help maintain a shop where people can do great work safely.

What You Bring

We're looking for a craftsperson first and a leader second—someone who takes genuine pride in the quality of what they build.

You have

- 5+ years of skilled experience in cabinet making, custom millwork, finish carpentry, architectural woodworking, or a related trade
- Strong experience with high-end custom fabrication
- At least 1 year of experience leading projects, mentoring others, or serving as a senior craftsperson
- The ability to confidently read shop drawings, blueprints, and CAD-generated plans
- Advanced skills with woodworking machinery, power tools, and shop equipment
- Experience working with a variety of wood products, laminates, veneers, and specialty materials
- Excellent problem-solving skills and an uncompromising eye for detail
- The ability to manage multiple builds and hit production deadlines
- Flexibility to work overtime when a project requires it

Even Better If You Have

- Experience building custom exhibits, trade show displays, retail fixtures, or experiential environments
- CNC fabrication experience

- Experience collaborating with designers, engineers, detailers, project managers, and production teams
- A passion for teaching others and continuously improving your craft

Why This Is Different

You're not just building cabinets. You're building environments. The things you make can become the centerpiece of a trade show booth, a branded space, a product launch, or an immersive experience seen by thousands of people.

You'll get the satisfaction of working with your hands, solving real fabrication challenges, and seeing a project go from drawing shop finished environment.

And you'll have a team around you that understands the craft.

If you're an experienced carpenter or cabinet maker who wants to build interesting things, work with talented people, and see your craftsmanship out in the world, we'd love to talk.

Last but not least, we believe in diversity, equity and inclusion.
