As General Manager, you will oversee the successful operation of the Hamilton Convention Centre, lead a high-performing team, drive revenue growth, build strong community and client relationships, and support the execution of extraordinary events.This role will also contribute to the broader redevelopment and revitalization of Hamilton’s downtown core. As a member of the Carmen’s Group senior leadership team, you will participate in strategic discussions that help shape the future growth of the company.What You’ll DoAs General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and guest experience at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s. Your responsibilities will include:Participating in strategic planning to identify new revenue streams, event markets, and business development opportunities that support venue growth and sales targetsContributing to the development and execution of the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s vision and strategy, ensuring alignment and collaboration across departmentsMonitoring sales targets and supporting the sales team in driving revenue, including attending key client appointments as neededCompiling, analyzing, and presenting financial data for strategic leadership meetingsBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with guests, clients, vendors, suppliers, City of Hamilton representatives, tourism partners, and other external stakeholdersWorking closely with department managers to coordinate, plan,



and execute exceptional eventsLiaising with City of Hamilton representatives on tourism initiatives, facility improvements, and community partnershipsLeading, coaching, and supporting team members across all departmentsPreparing budgets, monitoring expenses, and ensuring gross margins are achieved for all eventsInspecting the property and coordinating services to ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety standards, and other statutory requirementsParticipating in union meetings and collective bargaining as requiredPromoting and living the purpose, vision, and values of Carmen’s Group both internally and externallyWhat We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a confident and collaborative leader with strong business acumen, hospitality experience, and a passion for creating exceptional guest and client experiences.Qualifications include:Bachelor’s degree in business or a related fieldAdditional post-secondary education or courses in business, hospitality, or a related field considered an asset7 to 10 years of experience in a senior management role, preferably in hospitality, events, venue management, or a related industry3 to 5 years of experience in facility management3 to 5 years of experience in sales generation or business developmentExperience compiling, analyzing, and presenting financial data and performance metricsExperience working in a unionized environment considered an assetStrong leadership skills with the ability to coach, support,
