This position is responsible for geotechnical aspects of pit wall and waste rock dump to ensure all geotechnical hazards are manageable for safe and effective mining operations.
Accountability
Reporting to the Superintendent, Geotechnical Engineering and Geology, is responsible for coordinating and/or executing:
Regular field geotechnical inspection.
Slope monitoring strategy, installation and interpretation.
Geotechnical analysis and reporting: rock mass characterization & slope stability analysis.
External reporting: monthly and quarterly geotechnical inspection report for regulatory purposes.
Geotechnical drilling campaign.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Geological or Mining Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
Master’s degree in Geological/Geotechnical Engineering preferred
Experience in geotechnical open pit mining operations is a strong asset.
Experience with slope monitoring system: prims monitoring with Robotic Total Station, Radar monitoring) is a strong asset.
Experience in geotechnical underground operations is an asset.

Geology structural mapping.
Hydrogeology.
Geotechnical field investigation methods.
Familiar with RocScience geotechnical software.
Experience with MineSight® or Deswik® considered an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, operations-driven workplace
Robust problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Good time management and ability to adapt to changing priorities
