Care setting: Residential long-term care

Required availability: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday (7:00 AM-3:00 PM)

Guaranteed hours: 30.00 hours/per week

Position summary:

In collaboration with the Program Coordinator (RN), provides leadership and direction for team members involved in the provision of resident care by mentoring and role modeling, fostering and promoting new initiatives; interpreting, developing and implementing care related policies, procedures and clinical protocols. Delivers comprehensive professional nursing care consistent with the care plan, nursing assessments and resident needs.

- Provides safe, compassionate, and resident-centered nursing care in accordance with the resident’s care plan and LPN scope of practice.
- Assesses, monitors, and documents residents’ health status, changing care needs, and clinical concerns, and communicates significant changes to the appropriate healthcare team.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates care plans,



including participation in care conferences, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Administers medications safely and accurately, monitors therapeutic effects and adverse reactions, and maintains required medication and controlled-drug records.
- Performs nursing treatments and procedures, including wound care, pain management, catheterization, specimen collection, infection prevention, and other interventions within scope of practice.
- Identifies and reports resident risks and changes in condition, and provides appropriate nursing interventions and follow-up.
- Supports and provides direction to care aides and other care staff to ensure appropriate and effective resident care.
- Promotes resident rights, privacy, dignity, and respect, and communicates effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Assists with staff orientation, training, work coordination, and other operational activities as required.
- Maintains accurate and confidential resident records and follows all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Works collaboratively with nursing and interdisciplinary teams and adapts to changing operational and clinical needs.

The successful candidate will have... Practical Nurse Diploma from a recognized educational institution and current practicing license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) in good standing.

Current and valid First Aid & CPR C/AED or equivalent, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification, Food Safety, and Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC)

- A commitment to resident advocacy, dignity, privacy, preferences, and person-centred care.
- Proficiency with computers; experience with electronic health records, PointClickCare, and InterRAI is considered a strong asset.
- Physically capable of safely performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
