POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our food-processing operation in Hamilton.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment, building systems, and utilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations and Production and will play an key role in maintaining our High-Pressure Processing (HPP) equipment, including the Avure HPP system, as well as associated hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, water, CIP, refrigeration, and facility systems.
This is a day-shift position and is ideally suited to a hands-on technician who takes pride in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and maintaining a clean and safe food-processing environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HPP / Production Equipment
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HPP processing equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Avure HPP equipment, including:
- High-pressure vessel and closure system
- UHP pumps
- Hydraulic systems
- Water systems
- Valves and piping
- Sensors and instrumentation
- CIP systems
- Motors and pumps
- Diagnose equipment faults and respond quickly to production breakdowns.
- Support equipment start-up, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
- Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records.
Mechanical Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, valves, piping, and mechanical components.
- Perform lubrication and preventive maintenance.
- Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, vibration, and abnormal operation.
- Replace mechanical components as required.
- Assist contractors and specialized service technicians when required.
Electrical / Controls
- Troubleshoot electrical and control issues within the technician's level of qualification.
- Work with motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors, VFDs, and control panels.
- Read electrical schematics and equipment drawings.
- Reset and troubleshoot equipment alarms.
- Escalate specialized electrical issues when required.
Electrical work requiring a licensed electrician will be performed by appropriately licensed personnel.
Building / Utility Systems
Assist with maintenance of
- Refrigeration and cooling systems
- Glycol systems
- Compressed air
- Water systems
- CIP systems
- Pumps and circulation systems
- HVAC
- Doors and loading bay equipment
- Facility plumbing
- Emergency systems
- General building maintenance
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for completing scheduled PM activities, including:
- Daily equipment inspections
- Hydraulic oil level and condition checks
- Oil and water leak inspections
- HPP vessel and seal inspections
- Pump inspections
- Lubrication
- Filter inspections/replacement
- CIP maintenance
- Motor and bearing inspections
- Electrical inspections
- Safety-device inspections
- Documentation of completed maintenance
The technician will help identify recurring failures and recommend improvements to reduce downtime.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 3–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working with pumps, motors, valves, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred
- Experience with HPP equipment is an asset
- Millwright experience or certification.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience.
- PLC/control-system experience.
- Hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
- Pneumatic systems experience.
- Refrigeration or HVAC experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS The position is primarily day shift in a food-processing manufacturing environment. The employee may be required to:
- Work around industrial machinery.
- Work in wet or humid areas.
- Work around high-pressure equipment.
- Work around refrigeration and cooling equipment.
- Work at heights when required and properly trained.
- Occasionally respond to equipment breakdowns outside normal duties
Pay: $29.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
