The Medicine Hat SPCA is currently recruiting a casual/part time Kennel Assistant to join our team.

This will be a versatile, hourly position that includes evenings and weekends as required.

The right candidate will be dependable, responsible, cheerful, able to follow instruction and be able to work independently in a rapid-paced environment. This position requires effective communication, a team player, the ability to multi-task and positive time management.

The Kennel Assistant may be subjected to dangerous and/or diseased animals as well as chemical cleaners. Additionally, individuals might be exposed to potential allergens such as pet dander, hay, and dust.

General duties include:
Provide excellent customer service to visitors and potential adopters
Prepare food and feed animals
Monitor and document animal health and behavior




Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, stalls, cages, and enclosures
Administer medications as directed
Ability to work with a variety of animals including cats, dogs, and small animals

Requirement:
Capable of lifting a minimum of 40lbs.
Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
Applicants must be minimum 18 years old
Experience working in an animal shelter and/or veterinary clinic would be considered an asset
