Overview

Independent shop is seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining highway tractor/trailers, and 5 ton body job equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise with various engines, power trains, suspensions, electrical components and welding will be essential. This position offers an chance to apply your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills in a fast-paced environment that values quality workmanship and proactive problem-solving.

Duties
Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy duty tractors, trailers, and 5 ton body jobs.
Read and interpret computer diagnostics, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues effectively.
Conduct heavy lifting tasks using appropriate tools and equipment while adhering to safety standards.
Utilize power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and other specialized machinery to complete repairs accurately.
Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs for all performed tasks.




Operate equipment safely during repair or testing phases to verify proper function post-maintenance.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with coworkers about repair needs and timelines.

Experience
Proven journeyman-level experience as a heavy duty mechanic with certification preferred.
Strong computer diagnostic knowledge.
Cat, Cummins, Detroit, IHC engine diagnostic repairs and rebuilding experience preferred.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate hand tools and power tools.
Knowledge of heavy-duty electrical systems and troubleshooting methods is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills required.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, no weekends or evenings required. Wages dependent on experience.

Pay: $44.00-$48.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44.0 per week
