About the RoleReporting to the Manager of Community Planning, the successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out planning assignments and supporting the Community Planning team. The Planner I will assist with research and preparing reports/presentations on a range of policy matters including cultural heritage, agriculture, natural heritage and land use.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertaking and/or assisting with policy planning projects such as the Official Plan review, download of the Region of Durham Official Plan, Secondary Plans, and other policy matters.Preparing briefs and assisting in the preparation of reports, planning comments and other documents on a range of matters.Supporting coordination of Advisory Committees of Council and theFacilitating public consultation and responding to inquiries.Preparing presentations to Council and public informationParticipating in meetings with agencies, developers, citizen groups, residents and otherPerform other duties as assigned, including those specific to the department.What you bringA degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a recognized university program or an honors degree in a related program.A minimum of one (1) year experience in municipal planning; or possess qualities, skills and work-related experience to the satisfaction of the department.Membership in the Ontario Skilled PlannersKnowledge of the Planning Act, Provincial legislation, and municipal developmentProven written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to meetStrong research and analyticalDemonstrated ability to provide a solution-oriented,
