Take the lead in justice advocacy with the Assembly of First Nations in Ottawa, Ontario. This permanent full time Director role focuses on advancing First Nations justice systems and community safety.The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is looking for an experienced Director to spearhead the Justice sector. This role encompasses strategic leadership, policy development, and collaboration to enhance First Nations-led justice and safety efforts. Your work will significantly contribute to the recognition and implementation of First Nations laws and governance.Key Responsibilities:
Support First Nations justice systems and legal traditions
Develop and enact strategies to address justice issues
Lead policy development for community safety and prevention
Represent AFN in discussions with various stakeholders
Mentor and lead a qualified support teamRequirements:
Post-secondary education in Law or related fields
Minimum of 7 years experience in First Nations politics
Robust understanding of justice issues affecting First Nations
Demonstrated superior writing and negotiation skills
