Overview
Alberta Academy of Recording seeking an experienced Audio Engineer / Music Producer to instruct novice students in our audio engineering / music production course. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the instruction of 2 - 4 students in our engineering certificate course. This role requires a robust understanding of audio engineering, music composition, and digital media tools including Pro Tools. The classes run Monday to Thursday, 2 - 6 pm from Sept.8 to Dec 23, 2026 with the possibility of additional engineering / music production work available. Starting immediately, salary 28 - 35 an hour depending on experience. Guaranteed 16 hours a week minimum.
Responsibilities
Instruct students using our curriculum and the Up-to-date Recording Techniques textbook.
Explain in detail the techniques used by skilled engineers & producers to attain world class recording and mixing results.
Work with students to further their understanding of Pro Tools and other popular DAWs.
Assist with practical recording projects as part of the curriculum.
Mark tests and adjudicate practical assignments, monitoring students progress.
Act as mentor and guide to assist novice students
Qualifications
Proven experience in music production or related roles within the music or entertainment industry
Proficiency in digital audio workstations (DAWs) Must know Pro Tools
Knowledge of sound engineering principles and mixing/mastering techniques
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
A portfolio demonstrating previous work in music production is highly desirable
