Nanny & Household Manager — Full-Time

About the Family & Position

We are a professional family living in a downtown Toronto condo with our young child. We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and proactive Nanny/Household Manager to become a trusted part of our household.

Our child is approximately 18 months old, and the primary focus of this role is providing high-quality, engaging childcare while also helping with the day-to-day organization and upkeep of the home.

We are looking for someone who is naturally responsible, takes initiative, and understands the level of care, discretion, and professionalism expected when working in a private family household.

Schedule & Compensation

Hours

- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- 40 to 44 hours per week
- 8 to 10 hour shifts
- Start and end times will vary depending on the day and week

Example Schedule:

- Monday / Wednesday: 8/10 AM – 4/6 PM
- Tuesday / Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Compensation

- Up to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

Additional Availability There may occasionally be a need for evening or weekend coverage. Advance notice will be provided, and additional hours will be compensated separately.

Travel

Occasional travel with the family may be required. Travel expenses will be covered and separate accommodations will be provided. Standard hourly compensation will apply during travel.

Time Off

- 2 weeks of paid vacation, at employer scheduled times
- Statutory holidays and associated time off
- Additional time off, including sick days, is unpaid

Primary ResponsibilitiesChildcare The primary focus of the position is providing attentive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for our child.

Responsibilities will include

- Providing active, hands-on engagement through reading, play, conversation, music, and age-appropriate activities.
- Supporting his physical, social, emotional, and language development through everyday activities and interactions.
- Following a strict no-screen-time approach.
- Taking him outside every day for walks and outings.
- Visiting nearby parks, libraries, playgroups, and other age-appropriate activities, all accessible by walking.




- Maintaining a consistent daily routine around meals, naps/rest, activities, and outings.
- Encouraging independence and age-appropriate skills while providing attentive supervision.
- Keeping the child's spaces, toys, clothing, and belongings organized throughout the day.

We are looking for someone who understands that quality childcare is more than supervision. The ideal candidate will be actively involved, present, and intentional about how they spend the day with the child. Household & Daily Upkeep

Alongside childcare, we expect the nanny to help maintain a tidy, organized, and comfortable home environment throughout the day.

This includes

- Tidying up after the child and keeping play areas, toys, books, and belongings organized.
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen generally tidy after meals and snacks.
- Wiping down counters and surfaces as needed.
- Managing laundry for two adults and the child, including folding and putting items away.
- Light meal and ingredient preparation for the family.
- Occasionally picking up groceries or small household items from the store in the building.
- Keeping the child's everyday belongings organized and ensuring commonly used spaces are left neat and ready for the family.

The expectation is general daily upkeep rather than deep cleaning. We are not looking for someone whose primary role is cleaning; however, we do value someone who naturally notices when something is out of place, cleans up after themselves and the child, and takes pride in keeping the home tidy and well maintained throughout the day. On days where the employers are home or traveling, we may ask for deep cleaning to be performed.

What We Are Looking For

We are interested in candidates with meaningful,



referenceable experience working with young children and managing household responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be:

- Experienced in childcare, particularly with infants and toddlers.
- Reliable, disciplined, and proactive, with the ability to manage responsibilities independently.
- Comfortable organizing and prioritizing their day without requiring constant direction.
- Strong in both written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable using WhatsApp for regular communication and updates during working hours.
- Respectful and discreet when working in a private family home.
- Comfortable with parents who may occasionally work from home or come in and out during the day.
- Able to take ownership of household responsibilities while keeping the child's needs as the primary focus.

Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification are strong assets. An Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification is also considered an asset.

Household Environment & Expectations

This is a private household, and discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality are extremely important.

Confidentiality The successful candidate will be required to sign an employment contract containing confidentiality obligations covering the family's personal and professional affairs.

Background Check A Vulnerable Sector Police Background Check will be required.

Candidates who do not already have one will have the processing fee reimbursed upon successful hiring.

Phone Use

Personal phone use during working hours is expected to be strictly limited to emergencies and scheduled breaks.

The expectation is that the nanny remains fully present and focused on the child and household responsibilities while working.
