About The Role The Newborn Medical Support Aide provides direct, hands-on overnight support to a medically complex newborn in the family's home in NW Calgary. The child requires a G-tube and constant support,
monitoring, and delicate care throughout the night. This role requires steady clinical competence, close attention to detail, and comfort working as part of a broader medical and therapeutic team supporting the child's care. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a home with household pets.

- Is comfortable and confident working in a home with household pets
- Is reliable and able to commit to a consistent Sunday–Wednesday overnight schedule
Key Responsibilities Direct Medical & Personal Care
- Provide direct, hands-on overnight care to a newborn requiring constant support, monitoring, and
delicate handling
- Provide G-tube feeding support in accordance with training and the child's individualized care plan
- Monitor the infant closely throughout the overnight shift and respond appropriately to any medical
concerns
- Administer medication in accordance with the individual care plan and physician direction, as
trained
- Support safe sleep, positioning, and comfort throughout the night
Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
- Work as a valued member of a multidisciplinary care team including the child's surgeon,
pediatrician, nutritionist, therapist, and LPNs
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the family and broader care team regarding the child's
overnight status and any concerns
- Participate in care conferences and planning meetings as required
Documentation & Communication
- Complete accurate, timely digital case notes and care documentation for every shift
- Document and report Critical Incident Reports (CIRs) in accordance with BSR policy
- Provide a thorough shift handover to the incoming caregiver, covering feeding, monitoring, and any
notable events Requirements Qualifications & Education Required Certification & Registration
- Active registration as a Health Care Aide (HCA) on the Alberta HCA registry, in good standing

- CPR First Aid Level C, current
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience or training in G-tube feeding and care for infants requiring constant
monitoring
- Comfort and competence working overnight with a medically fragile newborn
Required Skills
- Proficiency with digital documentation platforms for case notes and care records
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, pediatricians,
nutritionists, therapists, and LPNs
- Comfort working in a home with household pets
Required Clearances
- Clear Police Information Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check (completed within the last 6 months)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable personal vehicle with third-party liability insurance
Assets (not Required, But Valued)
- Experience supporting infants in a NICU, hospital, or complex home-care setting
- Familiarity with FSCD, Jordan's Principle, or other pediatric medical funding systems
- Experience with ShareVision, FAMCare, or StoryPark documentation platforms

Job Type Full-Time
Salary
$24.55 – $26.85 per hour
Ability to Commute/Relocate
