This position reports directly to Inovata Foods’ Operations Manager and will have a high level of collaboration with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Engineering and Warehouse.
Inovata Foods Corp. is looking for an Operations Supervisor, Nights to partner with us as we bring families and friends together through wholesome and convenient meals. This role is located at our Tillsonburg, Ontario facility. Inovata Foods Corp. is a major producer of wholesome control brand frozen meals for many of North America’s largest retailers.
Position Details:
- Vacancy Type: Planned Vacancy
- Salary: $85,000 per year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assign and manage the duties and activities of departmental personnel to ensure the timely production of quality food products for our customers.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching and support to employees and Leads, fostering a positive, respectful and productive work environment.
- Maintain strong employee relations through ongoing communication, coaching, counselling and regular feedback. Address performance concerns through one on one conversations, departmental meetings and other appropriate methods.
- Administer disciplinary procedures following thorough and timely investigation of infractions, ensuring all discipline is consistent with the Progressive Discipline Policy.
- Ensure the department operates in compliance with Company safety policies and applicable health and safety legislation. Address hazard reports, participate in accident investigations, manage work refusals, administer first aid when required and complete all applicable documentation.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring employees understand and follow safe work practices, PPE requirements and applicable health and safety procedures.
- Assist with the training, orientation and onboarding of new employees to ensure a clear understanding of Company expectations, policies,
procedures and job requirements.
- Complete required reports, documentation and production records to ensure effective communication of HACCP/SQF requirements, production expectations, labour efficiencies and operational results.
- Monitor and review production performance, including production conformance, product measurements and line performance in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Production teams.
- Enforce GMPs, food safety programs, HACCP requirements and established quality standards throughout the facility.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to identify and address food safety and quality concerns, including non conformances, complaints, inspection findings and internal or external audit observations.
- Develop and implement corrective actions in response to food safety, quality and operational issues, working collaboratively with appropriate departments.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to address equipment issues, downtime, preventative maintenance requirements and opportunities to improve production efficiency.
- Work closely with Warehouse, Quality Assurance and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of overnight operations.
- Monitor staffing levels, attendance, productivity and labour efficiencies and take appropriate action to support operational needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, employee engagement and overall operational performance.
- Ensure effective communication between the night shift and other shifts through accurate handovers, documentation and follow up.

Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Previous experience managing employees, including coaching, conflict resolution and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices and applicable legislation.
- Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced production setting and make sound decisions independently.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP and food safety requirements is considered an asset.
- Must be reliable and demonstrate a strong attendance record and positive attitude.
- Must be willing and able to work overnight shifts and occasional extended hours when operationally required.
Working Conditions:
We strive to help our team members maintain a positive balance between life and work. This position is primarily responsible for overnight operations and requires regular exposure to a food processing environment, including dampness, cold temperatures, noise and varying working conditions.
The position requires the ability to work nights and may occasionally require extended working hours, weekends or adjusted start and end times to support production requirements, customer presentations, production trials, first runs and other operational needs.
