Dors Traynor Optometry is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Optometric Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and contributing to a busy, patient-focused healthcare workplace.

The role will primarily involve reception duties, patient pretesting, and ancillary diagnostic testing. Previous experience in an optometry or healthcare setting is an asset, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

· Welcome patients and provide a friendly, professional first impression

· Answer telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries

· Schedule and confirm appointments, and check patients in and out

· Update patient information and maintain accurate electronic records

· Collect payments and assist with general administrative duties

· Complete preliminary testing before patients see the optometrist

· Perform ancillary testing such as retinal photography, OCT imaging, and visual field testing

· Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient care





· Support the doctors and other team members as needed

· Maintain patient confidentiality and follow clinic procedures

Qualifications

· Friendly, professional, and patient-focused

· Strong communication and customer-service skills

· Organized, dependable, and attentive to detail

· Comfortable using computers and learning new technology

· Able to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy clinic

· Works well independently and as part of a team

· Previous reception, customer-service, optometric, or healthcare experience is an asset

· Optometric Assistant certification is an asset but is not required
