BUILD YOUR CAREER WITH GREAT PRODUCTS AND POSITIVE PEOPLE.
Building Finishing Products | Full-Time | Permanent | Monday-Friday A door isn't just a slab with hinges.
It has a handing, a swing, a jamb, hardware, clearances, fire ratings - and dozens of opportunities for something to go wrong. The person ordering it may know exactly what they need, or they may have only a rough opening, a photograph and half the information.
.
That is where you come in.
Westcoast Moulding & Millwork is looking for an experienced salesperson with strong, practical knowledge of building finishing products.
Practical knowledge of doors is essential, but this is a broader building-finishing-products role encompassing mouldings, millwork, stairs, woodworking and construction generally.
The right person knows how these products are selected, specified, ordered and installed - and how one decision can affect everything that follows.
We're looking for someone who can speak credibly with builders and tradespeople, recognize what information is missing, anticipate potential problems and resolve small issues before they become large ones.
This is not a learn-sales-and-building-products-at-the-same-time position. You must bring both relevant sales experience and substantial industry knowledge. We will train you on our particular products, systems and way of doing business.
.
What the Role Requires
You'll work with builders, contractors, renovators and other construction professionals - some who know precisely what they need and others who need help figuring it out.
You will develop new business while taking good care of existing customers. That means visiting customers and job sites, asking the right questions, reading plans and measurements, recommending appropriate products, preparing accurate quotes and following orders through.
To do that well, you must:
· Have strong, practical knowledge of doors
· Have at least four years of experience with woodworking, millwork, construction or building finishing products
· Bring relevant sales experience
· Know how building products are selected, specified, ordered and installed - not merely what they're called
· Speak comfortably and credibly with builders, contractors and tradespeople
· Notice missing or contradictory information and ask about it
· Turn a customer's incomplete idea into an accurate quote or order
· Be detail-oriented without losing sight of the customer or the overall project
· Work closely with inside sales, purchasing, production and operations
· Manage your own time while remaining accountable to the team
· Follow up when you say you will
· Earn repeat business by being knowledgeable, useful and reliable
You won't be expected to know every answer immediately. You will be expected to recognize when another question needs to be asked.
Preference will be given to candidates who fluently speak English and a second language.
.
Who We Are
Westcoast Moulding & Millwork manufactures, distributes and retails finishing products for the construction industry.
We carry the largest selection of stock moulding profiles in Western Canada and supply doors, stairs, millwork and custom architectural products to meet the particular requirements of each project.
But products are only part of what makes a salesperson successful.
Our outside sales team is backed by experienced people in inside sales, purchasing, production and logistics. We have the stock,
supplier relationships, manufacturing resources and delivery support to help turn a promise to a customer into a completed order.
That support works both ways. People here share information, solve problems together and step in when someone needs help. A salesperson is responsible for their customers and results, but they are never expected to accomplish everything alone.
We've earned multiple industry awards, but repeat customers and satisfied employees tell us more about how we're doing.
We've been around long enough to know what we're doing - and we're still young enough to keep improving how we do it. We take the work seriously without making the workplace miserable.
.
How We'll Set You Up to Succeed
You'll begin at our inside sales desk, learning our full product range, systems and processes while getting to know our customers and the people who support every order.
When you move into outside sales, you won't be on your own. You'll continue to have knowledgeable people behind you in inside sales, purchasing, production and operations.
You bring the sales ability, construction awareness and product knowledge. We'll help you learn the rest of Westcoast.
.
