POSITION SUMMARYBetter Living Health and Community Services has a permanent full-time opening for the position of Manager, Hospice Palliative Care will be responsible for the management of health, wellness and continuity of service delivery for clients and residents and their families and supervision of Hospice Program staff and advancing Palliative Care in the Better Living catchment area. This position will be split between Better Living Hospice program locations in Newmarket and Toronto.This position reports to the Vice President Hospice Palliative Care.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSUndergraduate degree or post graduate education in a related health or social services disciplineMinimum of 5 years experience working in health or human services, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3 years management experience leading a team in the delivery of health or human servicesWorking knowledge of psychosocial assessments, and working with electronic records and in a client data base systemMust possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for the purposes of business travelSKILLS and KNOWLEDGEAn understanding of the history, philosophy, and services of hospice palliative care and the model of care provided by Better Living Health and Community ServicesManagement experience with staff supervision, program development, growth, evaluation, and budgetingAbility to establish and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment focused on empowering employees to achieve organizational objectivesUnderstanding the importance of community engagement and partnership building for the advancement and delivery of exceptional programs and servicesExperience developing professional and effective working relationships with staff, students, volunteers, peers, stakeholders, community members and fundersA demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement. pursuing and achieving goals and using lessons learned to improve the performance and effectiveness of the hospice palliative care programsEffective listening skills including the ability to seek clarification as necessary and an openness to understanding and integrating the ideas of others.Experience working with and meeting accreditation or quality standardsKEY OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the operations of the psychosocial team including case management, visiting hospice services, caregiver support, grief and bereavement and art therapyManage the day to day Human Resources within the department (including program students and volunteers), ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performanceResponsible for the growth, development, implementation and evaluation of results-based programs that improve and enhance client-centered service delivery and operational performanceProvide client and caregiver support in the absence of psychosocial staff at all hospice programsComplete monthly statistical reporting, monthly and quarterly reportsManage the Community Hospice budgetsParticipate in the rotational on-call system with Director of Care at Margaret Bahen HospiceSupport PalCare, and the NYTHP and NYSS OHT’s with education to health care providers and community members as requestedPursue continuous learning and improvement by seeking out new ideas,
