We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about solving complex problems and interested in developing in-depth payroll expertise while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
You will work closely with operations, development, product, technology partner, and client teams to ensure the reliability of our payroll solutions.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Payroll Expertise and Operational Analysis
- Analyze complex payroll processing situations and identify the root causes of issues.
- Validate the application of business rules, payroll calculations, and operational processes related to payroll processing.
- Conduct impact analyses related to incidents, changes, or enhancements to payroll solutions.
- Conduct research and data analysis to identify affected employees, clients, or processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to document findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Act as a subject matter resource for cases requiring in-depth knowledge of payroll processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality controls, processes, and validation mechanisms.
Payroll Solutions and Integration Support
- Analyze and resolve incidents related to data exchanges with our payroll systems.
- Diagnose issues related to APIs, authentication mechanisms, and integrations.
- Interpret event logs, error messages, and application traces to identify the root causes of incidents.
- Support clients, partners, and internal teams with the integration of payroll solutions.
- Participate in the testing, validation, and certification of new integrations.
- Test new application releases to anticipate potential impacts on payroll processing.
- Respond to functional and technical questions related to the solutions.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain reference documentation, procedures, guides, and best practices.
- Contribute to the evolution of internal processes, tools, and documentation.
- Use generative artificial intelligence tools responsibly to support analysis and documentation activities.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of products, services, and the client experience.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with development, product, security, and customer service teams.
- Explain functional and technical concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
- Participate in projects requiring expertise in payroll, functional analysis, or systems integration.
- Represent the Payroll Services Centre with internal and external partners, as required.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Degree in business administration, accounting, payroll, computer science, information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of how one or more payroll systems operate.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a payroll subject matter expert role.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a specialized support role.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause identification skills.
- Ability to interpret business rules and validate system-generated results.
- Good understanding of integration technologies, including REST and SOAP APIs.
- Knowledge of JSON and XML formats.
- Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, or equivalent tools is an asset.
- Knowledge of authentication mechanisms such as OAuth, API keys, and SSO is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use generative artificial intelligence tools responsibly to support analysis and process improvement.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role.
The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $50,000–$85,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
