Communications ManagerPosted: June 7, 2026 | Term: 18 months starting August 2026 | Compensation: $6,747.50 – $9,701.42 CAD per month.Job SummaryUBC Sauder School of Business seeks a Communications Manager to develop, manage and execute strategic communications for the faculty. The role enhances UBC Sauder’s image and supports its strategic plan through owned, earned, paid and social media tactics.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage strategic communications plans for the UBC Sauder portfolio.Produce a yearly editorial calendar covering written, video and audio content.Adjust editorial content to accommodate news or unexpected events.Develop media relations plans and engage with stakeholders, including senior leadership, to gain exposure in local, national and international media.Create media materials such as releases, pitches, Q&A sheets, advisories, photography and video.Triage media requests, advance story development, and respond to inquiries as appropriate.Co‑coach spokespeople and evolve key messages.Maintain and edit the School News section on the UBC Sauder website, ensuring SEO and brand alignment.Collaborate with marketing on integrated content strategies across digital and social channels.Co‑chair the Content Planning Committee and oversee content distribution to social or paid media.Prepare communication projects, manage project scope, align messaging, and coordinate with internal and external partners.Provide crisis and issue communication support as needed.Participate in UBC committees and communications activities to support broader team objectives.Liaise with UBC Public Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Internal Communications,
and other departments.Use editorial judgment to keep content aligned with UBC Sauder’s strategic priorities.Analyze KPIs for media relations, content marketing and owned media, reporting on performance.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.Minimum five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex information.Experience developing editorial content that supports institutional goals.Experience in media relations and campaign execution.Solid editorial judgment and newsworthiness sense.Ability to translate complex research and data into engaging public content.Brand strategy management and implementation skills.Strategic planning and execution abilities.Leadership through influence and trust building.Web communications, online marketing, and social media proficiency.Capability to mobilize teams and resources to meet objectives.Experience in crisis and issue communications, and high‑level judgement regarding priorities and confidentiality.Previous supervisory experience, preferably with student workers and external vendors.Other InformationAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
