Overview
CHEW Excavating Ltd is inviting hard-working team players who are interested in growing their careers in our dynamic construction company, where either your ability to learn, or your existing skills as a Pipelayer will be applied on bulk excavations, road works, underground utilities, subdivisions and developments, demolition or deconstruction projects and hazardous materials removal. Working outdoors in all kinds of weather doesn't bother you - working in a trench, performing physical work is what you want to be doing!
Working under the direction of your Foreman or Superintendent you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient pipeline installations that meet safety standards and project specifications.
Duties
- Lay and install underground pipelines using hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and bucket trucks
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging equipment to position pipes accurately
- Perform welding tasks to join pipe sections securely and ensure structural integrity
- Conduct rigging operations to lift and position large pipe segments safely and efficiently
- Use electrical experience to troubleshoot low voltage systems associated with pipeline infrastructure
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including measurements, materials used, and safety checks
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, electrical systems, welding, and general construction procedures
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to pipe installation and maintenance
- Proficiency in operating excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other heavy machinery
- Experience with welding techniques for joining pipes or structural components
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for cutting, fitting, and securing piping systems
- Knowledge of rigging procedures for lifting large pipe sections safely
- Electrical experience with low voltage systems relevant to construction projects
- Ability to operate bucket operation equipment for precise placement of pipes
- Familiarity with safety standards for heavy equipment operation and construction site protocols

Pay: $34.91-$38.03 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
