Platform Support Engineer

Reports to: Head of Tech

Location: Hybrid / Remote — Surrey, BC

Type: Full-time

Requirement: PR or Citizen only

Scope split: 60% Fullstack Development· 40% Level 3 Production Support

About the role

We're looking for a Platform Support Engineer who can build as well as they can troubleshoot. This role sits inside the engineering team and splits its time between shipping fullstack features and acting as the senior escalation point when production breaks. You'll write code across the frontend and backend, then use that same depth of system knowledge to diagnose and resolve the incidents your own platform throws at you.

It's a robust fit for an experienced fullstack developer who wants ownership beyond just delivery — someone who enjoys being the person the team turns to when something goes wrong in production.

What you'll do

Fullstack Development (60%)

- Design, build, and maintain features across the frontend (React / Next.js) and backend (Node.js, and C# .NET where applicable).
- Develop and consume services within a microservice architecture, working across API boundaries and shared platform components.
- Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate in code review with the rest of the engineering team.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and DevOps to plan, estimate, and deliver features from design through to production release.
- Contribute to technical design decisions, including service boundaries, data flow, and integration patterns.

Level 3 Production Support (40%)

- Act as the senior escalation point for production incidents that Level 1/2 support cannot resolve — diagnosing root cause across the stack.
- Investigate application logs, service metrics,

and infrastructure signals to isolate issues spanning frontend, backend, and microservices.
- Own incident resolution end-to-end: triage, fix or coordinate a fix, verify in production, and document the root cause.
- Identify recurring or systemic issues and turn them into permanent fixes, monitoring improvements, or engineering backlog items.
- Participate in an on-call or escalation rotation for production support as required.

What we're looking for

- 5–6 years of experience as a software developer, ideally fullstack, with solid hands-on experience in React/Next.js and Node.js.
- Experience with C# .NET, particularly in a microservices or API context — a strong plus for this role.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting instincts — comfortable diagnosing unfamiliar production issues under time pressure.
- Understanding of microservice architecture: service boundaries, inter-service communication, and the operational tradeoffs involved.
- Experience reading and reasoning about application logs, error traces, and system metrics to find root cause.
- Solid grasp of the full software delivery lifecycle — from writing code to deploying and supporting it in production.
- Clear communicator who can work directly with engineering, QA, and stakeholders during both feature delivery and live incidents.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines (Docker, build/release pipelines).
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
- Experience working in regulated or financial-services environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana) used to catch issues before they escalate.

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,600.00 per year Work Location: Hybrid remote in Surrey, BC
