The Technical Specialist maintains and demonstrates a high level of technical expertise, with a focus on preanalytical processes. This position will have primary responsibility for pre‑analytical process within the Bayers Lake Community Outpatient Centre including blood collection and specimen receiving and processing. The Technical Specialist will also support preanalytical processes in the other Community Based Laboratories.The Technical Specialist oversees and provides technical support to staff, student placements and other NSH learners, and ensures a high quality and timely service to patients accessing laboratory services. The Technical Specialist demonstrates leadership skills and has some administrative responsibilities in designated areas. Working closely with the Laboratory Client and Support Centre, the Technical Specialist is responsible for the coordination of quality initiatives including maintaining and updating procedures, audits and staff competency assessments. Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor,



the Technical Specialist is responsible for the implementation of corrective actions as required.
