This role implements HR processes and systems supporting the employee lifecycle which includes recruiting and staffing, performance management and improvement systems, change management, ensuring legislative compliance, payroll, employee onboarding, development and training, policy development and documentation, HRIS, employee relations, compensation, benefits and pension administration, along with employee safety, health and wellness.What You’ll Be DoingRecruitment, Selection and OnboardingResponsible for facilitating a formal and structured recruitment process to manage staffing needsPartner with hiring managers to confirm position requirements, obtain required approvals and propose strategies for advertising, interviewing and selectionConduct initial screening, schedule and participate in interviews, conduct reference checks and appropriate background screeningDevelop relationships with external agencies and recruiters to facilitate these recruitment services as neededWork with hiring managers to ensure job descriptions are created and revised when needed to adhere to the established compensation structureFacilitate drafting and receiving final approval of the employment agreement for the successful candidateManage the onboarding process and new hire orientation for new employees, facilitate needs assessment with management to determine any training needsCompensation, Benefits, Pension,
Payroll and HRISMaintain established compensation structure and plans including conducting job evaluation for current and revised roles ensuring alignment within the structureSupport benefits and pension administration with third-party providers for benefits and pension plansProvide HR support for semi-monthly payroll cycle for participating societiesResponsible for reporting on HR metricsMaintain and update HRIS platformEmployee RelationsProvide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including workplace conflict, performance management, attendance, conduct and policy interpretationLead the annual performance management process and provide reporting from HRISEnsure all processes, policies and procedures are up-to-date and legally compliantCoordinate and support the ASO health and safety program in terms of policies, training and legislative guidanceServe as the organization’s designated Fire Warden, and support workplace emergency preparedness and evacuation proceduresProvide guidance and support for local societies through HRASiO on employee relations matters upon requestWho You Are:Post secondary degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or universityAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will also be consideredA minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in human resources within a generalist capacity,
with a proven ability to advise leaders and navigate complex employee relations issues.At least two years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory roleCHRP or CHRL designation preferred (or working toward designation)Proven experience implementing recent systems and processesExperience in a not-for-profit environment is an assetExperience operating within a shared services and/or federated organizational model is considered an assetOther Knowledge, Competencies, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:Demonstrated ability to work both within a team environment and independentlyExcellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skillsStrong presentation, analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to analyze, problem solve, prioritize, make timely decisions, and take initiativeHave a sense of urgency when dealing with clientsExemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.Knowledge of best practice theories and practices of Human Resources Management and employment lawWhat We OfferWork life balance is key to us here at the Alzheimer Society.
